On Vacation

ON VACATION The Las Vegas Visitors Bureau has been operating commercials recently exhorting us to Take Back Your Summer. Who am I to argue? In January I encouraged you to permit yourselves a time off. Now I’m ready to go you one better: Take a vacation! I am. And that’s why this week’s submit is so quick. We’re leaving for the airport, my spouse and I, very early this morning, therefore a a lot earlier-than-normal post from out right here in Pacific Time. Tomorrow, we could have been married twenty years. That sounded like a superbly reasonable excuse for 4 sun-crammed days and three star-crammed nights in Sin City. And it’s kinda off-season for them, I guess. We got married in the summer, which implies we get to get pleasure from Vegas at its triple-digit hottest, but that’s nice. It does imply it was low-cost as all get out. While we’re there, we’re going to do our greatest to depart our duties behind. I received’t kid myself, of course. I will learn emails as they vibrate vi a on my cellular phone. And as an author my inventive thoughts is rarely turned off. I’ll take in the individuals and sights around me to be reprocessed and spat back out in fictional form sometime in the future. But I deserve 4 days off, and so does my wife of twenty years. And so do you. Where are you going this summer season? AND THIS JUST IN: I might be joining Susan Morris and Erin Evans for a panel on villains at PAX right here in Seattle subsequent month! Join us! â€"Philip Athans About Philip Athans
